Help! I want a pouch sling and I don’t know what size to get!
I want a Hotsling:
Hotslings sizes are based on a couple of things: your bra size,
t-shirt size, and measurement, in inches, from top of the shoulder to
hip bone. You might fit into more than one category, uh oh, now what?
Well, if you’re anything like me, you own 15 pair of jeans in 13
different sizes, and they all fit (more or less). Slings are similar.
For example, I can wear a size 2 or a size 3, but the 2 is a very snug,
tight fit while the 3 is a little looser.

The middle shade of purple is where the sling will be most comfortable for you, and safest for baby.

Does my sling fit?
Is my Hotsling/Peanut Shell too big?
-It’s really easy to get the baby in
-It feels like the baby is going to fall out (eek! bad idea!)
-You feel like you have to keep a hand on the baby
-The sling, with baby in, rides lower than your hip bone
-Your back aches
-Sling feels like it’s slipping off your shoulder
Is my Hotsling/Peanut Shell too small?
-It’s really hard to get the baby in (I mean really hard)
-Once the baby is in, you feel like you’re wearing a straightjacket
-Leaves serious marks on baby’s legs and back
-Remember that what we think looks like squashed, baby thinks is comfy.
Contrary to popular belief, baby’s are often comfiest in confined,
womblike, swaddled situations.
Which one: Patapum Infant v. Patapum Toddler
Why buy the infant version when you’re baby is just going to outgrow
it? Well, considering it’s safe up to 45 pounds, it’s going to be quite
a while before your kiddo outgrows it. If your baby is on the smaller
side, and is ready to be in a legs out position, the infant version is
going to be a great choice for you. If your toddler is rather
lightweight, and doesn’t like to lean, baby will work for you. If you,
as a mom or dad, are rather petite, and so is your baby, the infant
version should work.
If your baby is much larger, and prefers a legs in position still
(less than 3 months old), you’ll probably get more use out of the
toddler version. It is about 3 inches taller than the baby version. If
you have a heavy or tall toddler, or your little one just likes to lean
back, you’ll want the toddler version. If you think you’ll mainly be
using it for back carries, get the toddler version. If mom or dad are
on the tall or larger side, the toddler version will work better for
you. If this is totally confusing, email me!
